Deborah was a champion, she was always winning prizes; prizes for best effort and application in class, best story, best dish of Bobotie, best slogan, best answer. Deborah won all sorts of prizes; a picnic in the park, book vouchers, restaurant meals, tickets to shows, and even a car.

I believe Deborah won her first competition when she was 10 years old, it was a huge food hamper and with it she was allowed to choose a record. The record she chose was "Morning Sky" by David Baker. We played, sang and danced to this song many, many times over the years.
